Luxury Comfort in the Mountains
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bweza Gorilla Lodge with Wyclef and his staff. One day we biked about 15 miles from Kisoro to the lodge and were cold, tired, hungry and dirty upon arrival. No sooner than we pulled into the lodge entrance we were greeted by the staff with warm towels for our faces and big glasses of juice to quench our thirst and warm meals for our bellies followed shortly. The next day we went gorilla trekking and got caught in a rainstorm on the trek out and again when we arrived at Bweza Gorilla Lodge the staff met us with warm drinks and were ready to take our wet, dirty clothes to be washed. The icing on the cake (literally) was when the entire staff surprised me with a chorus of “Happy Birthday” with a personalized cake when I never even informed them it was my birthday. Not only was the service impeccable, the rooms large, spacious and restful (hot water too!), the views breathtaking (we saw a gorgeous Crested Crane on a tree right outside the lodge), the gourmet food delicious - the staff made us feel so comfortable that we were actually sad to say goodbye to Bweza Gorilla Lodge even though we had some amazing adventures next on our itinerary. “A Perfect Spot to Stay”
The owner, Wyclef, is funny, friendly & personable. He made sure we had everything we needed. He even made us his miraculous, special tea... read more when we weren’t feeling well. Gilbert & Precious took care of us as if we were family, whether it was providing us with extra bottled water, doing our laundry or just talking to us making sure we had everything we needed. Caring, kind & helpful describes everyone who worked at the lodge.
The views from the lodge are incredible & the hammock swing on our deck made for peaceful moments as we took in the sights & sounds. The rooms are large & cozy with a huge shower. What a surprise when we got into a warm bed each night (heated by a hot water bottle) put there by a staff member.
Even the Grey Crowned Crested Crane (the National Bird of Uganda) stays at Bweza! Each night it greeted us at dinner as it perched in the tree right outside the huge dining room windows. It was beautiful to listen to & watch!
