GETTING TO BWEZA
There are two ways of getting to Bweza Gorilla Lodge – driving or flying. If you’d prefer the road option, we do recommend hiring a driver.
BY AIR: Scheduled flights
Aerolink Uganda runs daily scheduled flights from Entebbe to Kisoro Airport, departing Entebbe at 07: 00 am for USD 520- for return flights to Kisoro. We organize transport from Kisoro Airstrip to Rushaga.
BY ROAD
From Uganda you need to travel from Kampala or Entebbe crossing through the Equator through Mbarara onto Kabale.The driving route is well sign posted from Kisoro however there is actually no reason to go all the way to Kisoro when proceeding directly to Rushaga through Kabale.
Follow the tarmac road southwest out of Kabale in the direction of Kisoro. At KM40 a sign post of Uganda Wildlife Authority and one of Bweza Gorilla Lodge directs you right to Rushaga. Prior to this signpost at KM26 you will observe a signpost directing you to the north side of Bwindi Forest via Ruhija to Buhoma some 90km distant. Keep left to continue on the Kisoro road at KM26 and do not proceed towards Ruhija or Buhoma.
DRIVING FROM KABALE
AT KM40 leave the road to follow a windy road that will eventually expose wonderful views of the Bwindi Forest. You will observe a sign post for Bweza Gorilla Lodge at the junction to the Rushaga 22km from Bweza Lodge Rushaga. Its just 1 km from the junction after the river on the road heading from Rubuguri.
The travel time from Kabale is about 2hours.
DRIVING FROM KISORO
On arrival in Kisoro when coming from Kabale or the Cyanika border post with Rwanda at the Mutanda Road junction where Kindly service operate a filling station a right turn will take you in the direction of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. After 10km having crossed the Mucha River a signpost for Rushaga Bwindi Gorilla Lodge can be observed approximately 29km distance. The distance from Kisoro is 39kms and takes 90 minutes to Rushaga. We are able to arrange special hire transfers from Kisoro to our site at Rushaga for visitors by prior arrangement only. This option is particularly popular with those undertaking a one day only walking safari through the forest to Buhoma. Clients tracking gorillas in Rushaga can also take advantage of our ‘special hire’ transfer service from Kisoro.We organize transfer from Kigali International Airport to Rushaga via either Cyanika or Katuna borders.
SELF-DRIVING ARRANGEMENT
If you need further assistance, please contact us: info@bwezagorillalodge.com . For those self-driving, do not under estimate the driving times against the distance to be travelled. The actual time on the road bearing in mind road conditions will be much longer than anticipated.

Rushaga – Kisoro 1:30 hours drive (fairly graded road)
Rushaga – Kabale 2 hours (1 hours of rough road)
Rushaga – Lake Mburo by way of Kabale, – 6 hours (1 hours of rough road)
Rushaga – Ishasha via Ruhija (8 hour much of which will be very rough and challenging driving)
Rushaga – QE National Park (Mweya sector) via Ishaka, Kabale and Rubuguri – 9 hours (1 hour of rough road)
Rushaga – Kigali via either Cyanika or Katuna borders – 5 hour drive
Entebbe Airport – Rushaga 9 hour drive
